Our Simplified Process
For Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
01 Challenge
The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site faced visibility and perceived accessibility issues due to its location adjacent to major highways and lack of signage. The $6 million Old Glory, New Vision campaign sought to address these challenges while preserving the site’s historical significance and enhancing community engagement.
02 Solution
Veridus Advisors, serving as the Owner’s Representative, helped facilitate the development of a new public gateway, including the Presidential Commons, Citizenship Plaza, and Presidential Promenade. This involved comprehensive renovations and additions, such as new signage, improved pedestrian and bicycle access, and enhanced outdoor and interior spaces to increase the site’s visibility and functionality.
03 Results
Completed in May 2023, the project significantly enhanced the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site’s visibility and community engagement. The addition of the Neighborway restored east-west pedestrian and bicycle access between Delaware and Pennsylvania Streets, improving walkability and bike-ability. Meanwhile, the Allen Whitehill Clowes Gateway Gardens introduced natural beauty and a serene space for reflection, enriching the site’s presence within the city’s urban landscape. These improvements, alongside features like the 89-foot Centennial Flagpole and the Stan and Sandy Hurt Presidential Promenade, successfully celebrated Benjamin Harrison’s legacy and better connected the site with the community.
