Murphy Aquatic Park

Our Simplified Process

For Murphy Aquatic Park

01 Challenge

The Murphy Aquatic Park project, Indiana’s first ADA-accessible water park, faced a significant budget overage of nearly $500,000 after all bids were received. This posed a challenge to delivering the $16 million project within its intended scope while maintaining the high-quality features such as a wave pool, activity pool, and accessible playground.

02 Solution

As the Owner’s Technical Representative, Veridus Advisors collaborated closely with RLTurner to identify and implement cost-saving measures across both hard and soft expenses. Veridus Advisors strategically took several alternates at bid time and rebid the playground package, ensuring that the project remained aligned with the budget without compromising on quality or play value.

03 Results

Veridus Advisors’ proactive approach and cost-saving initiatives resulted in an estimated savings of nearly $650,000. Murphy Aquatic Park, which opened in May 2022, was completed within budget and features the desired state-of-the-art wave pool, an activity pool with water slides, and a fully accessible playground, fulfilling its mission to be a family-friendly, inclusive recreational area. The surrounding park area is open year-round, offering a spacious hill for winter activities.
