The renovation and expansion of the West Lafayette Public Library faced a significant challenge when unexpected changes during construction document pricing resulted in a $2 million budget overage. Veridus Advisors joined the project during the final design stages and had to address these discrepancies while ensuring the project remained within the $11 million budget.
02 Solution
Veridus Advisors collaborated with KrM Architecture and Wilhelm Construction to establish five guiding principles focused on cost-effectiveness and design integrity. They conducted a thorough evaluation, identified unnecessary scope items, and made strategic adjustments to realign the project with the budget while maintaining design quality.
03 Results
The West Lafayette Public Library underwent a successful renovation and expansion, adding more than 10,000 square feet and refurbishing over 21,000 square feet of existing space. Key upgrades included the installation of LED lighting, modernization of HVAC systems, and enhancement of learning spaces. Completed in August 2022, the project was delivered within budget and effectively addressed the community’s expanding needs while improving accessibility.
